Type Retainer 542

Manual Marking Tools, Type & Insert: Type Retainer 542

NMSS Type Retainer 542 is a larger diameter than the 541 allowing it to hold more type characters. It also uses type which are longer and extend further from the retainer. The longer type gives the 542 greater clearance to mark a product especially if marking adjacent to a flange. The 542 offers the convenience and flexibility to change type and marking impressions without investing in quantities of roll dies.  Retainer 542 features an accurately machined, precision ground roll held to close tolerances that accepts individual type or logos that may have multiple characters on a single blank.

NMSS Type Retainer 542 also allows quick and easy replacement of damaged parts with identical replacements rather than replacing a solid die.  Ideal for marking parts which are in continuous production, the 542 is available in a range of sizes and with many sizes of type in stock, and specialized type made to order.

Type Retainer 542 is used on all roll marking attachments that use the following power Paks: 550, 560, 570, 580, 583 and 588.

Type Retainer 542 accepts the following type sizes: 3/64″, 1/16″, 5/64″, 3/32″, 1/8″, 5/32″ and 3/16″.

For character to be top-to-collet use 1035 as the starting cam (factory default).  For bottom-to-collet use 1034 as the starting cam.

Note:  The starting cam must the dowel pins supplied.  Failure to do so will result in damage to the type.
